Aluminium: properties and benefits

100% recyclable

Aluminum is 100% recyclable without loss of quality. Aluminum can be recycled indefinitely and remelting of aluminum requires little energy. The recycling process only requires about 5% of the energy needed to produce the initial primary metal. Did you know that over 75% of all aluminum once produced is still in circulation? Because of its long lifetime and low running costs, due to the minimal maintenance required, we can surely state that aluminum has a high intrinsic value.
For the production of Aluminium alloys, Remi Claeys Aluminium uses more than 95% of carefully selected recycled aluminum. This ensures that the carbon footprint of our company continuously declines.

Highly corrosion resistant and durable

Aluminum naturally generates a protective oxide coating which makes it highly corrosion resistant. Different types of surface treatment such as anodising, painting or lacquering can further improve this property. Aluminum is particularly useful for applications that require corrosion resistance and durability. It differentiates itself from other materials because of its nice aesthetics and finish aspects.

Excellent hammering and malleability

Aluminium offers easy machining/modellingthanks to its low melting point and low density. In a melted state, it can be processed in several ways. The excellent workability ensures that aluminum products can be formed close to or into the finished product design. .
Aluminum tubes can easily be processed and can be welded, soldered, glued, widened, narrowed, bended, milled, ... Besides numerous transformation possibilities, surface treatments are also possible.Remi Claeys alumium likes to support you in making the right aluminium alloy choices for your application, taking into account the required hardness, formability, mechanical processing  and finishing of the end product.

Aluminum is light and strong

Aluminum is a very light metal with a density of 2.7 g/cm³ (about one third of steel) and can be alloyed to the same strength as many construction steels. The use of aluminum reduces for example the weight  and energy use. So you get a lighter product, optimization of transport, increased weight capacity, optimal use of materials, ...

Electricity and heatconductor

Aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity and conducts almost twice as much as copper per unit weight. Thus aluminum is the most common material for high power transmission lines but also for air conditioning, refrigeration components, heaters, etc. ..
Aluminum also has good reflective properties. It is a good reflector of visible light and heat, which in combination with low weight is an ideal material for reflectors, for example in lamps or rescue blankets.

Aluminum is attractive, modern and a delight for creative people and designers.  Aluminum is currently the design material and is used in all kinds of applications where aesthetic appeal is / aesthetics are most important.
